Word of Hope for Today with Bro. Rolly Custodio
TRUSTING IN TRUTH
God is greater than our feelings, and He knows everything 1 John 3:20 NLT
Today’s Insight
We can accept God's forgiveness, yet feel unforgiven. We can struggle with feelings of unworthiness when we are so dearly loved. We can even receive Jesus as our Saviour, but then doubt our salvation. The truth is our feelings are often rooted in our deepest fears: that the sin we committed was just too big for God; that were not loveable; that we wont get to Heaven when we die. We dont feel secure in our faith because we are living in fear, not in love.
1 John 4:18 (NIV) says Perfect love drives out fear.
If God loved you with an imperfect love you'd have cause to worry, but His love is the complete opposite. His love casts out your fear because it casts out your sin. The moment you place your trust in Christ you are forgiven, made righteous, and assured of eternal life.
When your feelings come in to conflict with the truth about God and the promises of the Bible doubt your feelings instead of doubting God. God gave you emotions for a reason, but the bottom line is that the Bible says to Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5NIV).
So what now? Read Romans 5:111 and spend some time thinking it over. Next time your emotions rise against the promises of God, hold them in check with verses of truth.
Parallel Verses: 1 Thes 15, Matt 3:1317, Ps 90:16, Pr 1:14
