The Amazing Easter

Word of Hope for Today by Bro. Rolly Custodio

 The Amazing Easter!

 ‘…Like a lamb to the slaughter…’ Isaiah 53:7 NIV

Today’s Insight

Journalist-missionary Pierre van Paassen tells how prior to World War II, Nazi soldiers arrested an aging rabbi, stripped him naked, and demanded that he preach the sermon he’d prepared for the following Sabbath. With great dignity the old man asked if he could wear his yarmulke and his captors agreed, thinking it added greatly to the joke. Then, while they jeered and prodded him, the elderly rabbi talked about what it means to walk humbly before God.

Phil Yancey writes: ‘When I read of the torture and execution of Jesus, I think of that naked rabbi standing humiliated in a police station. And I can’t fathom the indignity and shame endured by God’s Son…the bullying game of Blind Man’s Bluff in the high priest’s courtyard…the professional thuggery of Pilate’s and Herod’s guards…the catcalls of spectators up the long road to Calvary, and finally the cross itself…I marvel at the self-restraint God showed throughout history, allowing the Genghis Khans, the Hitlers, and the Stalins to have their way. But nothing compares to the self-restraint shown that dark Friday in Jerusalem…Legions of angels awaited His command. One word and the ordeal would end.’

Isaiah said, ‘He was “led like a lamb to the slaughter, and…He did not open his mouth.”‘ Jesus could have appealed to His Father, and He would have provided ‘more than 80,000 angels’ (Matthew 26:53 AMP). Instead He chose to endure the cross and its shame to save you. That’s the amazing did by Jesus and the  wonder of Easter!

Parallel verses: Acts 8-9, Matt 27:57-66, Ps 130, Pro 10:24-26

COMPARING IS NOT HEALTHY

Saturday, 5 April 2014

Word of Hope for Today by Bro. Rolly Custodio

COMPARING IS NOT HEALTHY
‘…But they…comparing themselves…are not wise.’ 2 Corinthians 10:12 KJV

Today’s Insight

Are you so busy analysing your vices that you don’t have time to appreciate your virtues? Or so caught up in scrutinising others that you don’t value what God has given you? God never intended you to compare yourself with anybody else. ‘Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another’ (Galatians 5:25-26 NLT).

By making comparisons, you’re implying that God made a mistake in making you as you are. Furthermore, you’re allowing others to define your worth, and giving them control over your self-esteem. That’s too much power to give anybody! ‘…so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other. In His grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well’ (Romans 12:5-6 NLT).

Build on your God-given talents and stop coveting what others have. God made you what He wanted you to be, redeemed you and called you to fulfil His plan for your life. Until you stop comparing yourself with others, you’ll never be able to give birth to the gifts He’s placed within you. So thank Him for making you who you are, and believe that He’s transforming you day by day into the person He wants you to become.

Today’s Prayer

Heavenly Father, Thank you for your Word today. Lord thank you for I am wonderfully created by you. Lord thank you for reminding us that that we must not compare ourselves to others because each one us is unique and have a different race to run. Lord thank you for giving me talents that we may use to serve you and others. Lord thank you for giving me strength as your Word says that without a part from you we can do nothing but because of your grace and loving kindness we become followers that you want us to be. Lord give me insight to take care each other’s need and not comparing to each other. Lord continues to mold me to become mature in my dealing to others so that you can use me as an instrument of your blessings for your glory In Jesus’ Name. Amen!
