Three Obstacles in Running Your Life’s Race

WORD OF HOPE FOR TODAY by Bro. Rolly Custodio

Three Obstacles in Running Your Life’s Race

‘…Remove the obstacles out of the way…’Isaiah 57:14

Today’s Insight

In Bible days marathons weren’t run on smooth tracks, but over pathways filled with obstacles that could cause a runner to stumble and lose the race. Here are three obstacles you need to look out for as you run your life’s race:

1) An unforgiving attitude. ‘…If you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses’ (Mark 11:26 NKJV). When the mention of someone’s name triggers resentment, stop and pray, ‘Father, I forgive them as You’ve forgiven me. Whatever I ask for myself in blessing, I ask for them in double measure.’ When you retaliate, you deny God the right to show mercy and deal with the situation His way. Don’t play God. You’ve received mercy—pass it on!

2) An unhealthy relationship. Paul writes, ‘…Bad company corrupts good character’ (1 Corinthians 15:33 NLT). On the journey of life, you get to choose your travelling companions. If you give your time to those who aren’t worthy of it, you’ve no right to complain. Become more selective. Choose your friends from among those who share your values, understand your God-given purpose and strengthen you.

3) An undecided heart. Paul writes, ‘…I am still not all I should be, but I am bringing all my energies to bear on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize…’ (Philippians 3:13-14 TLB). A decided heart is the result of a made-up mind. It’s what separates the winners from the losers. Pour your life into something more than self-interest; commit to a purpose that will outlive you!

Being Selfish or Doing Good

Saturday, 26 July 2014

WORD OF HOPE FOR TODAY by Bro. Rolly Custodio

 Being Selfish or Doing Good

‘…Jesus…went about doing good…’ Acts 10:38

Today’s Insight

The Bible says, ‘God anointed Jesus…with the Holy Spirit and with power, Who went about doing good…’ When you’re led by God’s Spirit, your focus won’t be on being selfish or looking good to yourself, but on doing good. You say, ‘But I’m so busy!’ Nobody was busier than Jesus, yet He always responded to those in need. In Luke chapter 10 He tells of a Jewish traveller who was attacked by a gang and left to die by the road. First a Levite, then a priest passed by. But each had important appointments to keep, so they didn’t stop. Then a Samaritan came along. Now, he had every reason to look the other way, because the Jews and the Samaritans were long-standing enemies. Instead, ‘…He…came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion’ (Luke 10:33 NKJV). Compassion will make you stop and rearrange your priorities. This Samaritan realised that where he was at that moment was more important than his next appointment. What would you have done that day? Do you think you’d have acted like him? How about when God tries to interrupt your inflexible, tightly-organised, written-in-concrete schedule and asks you to make time for someone who’s hurting? Are you willing to forgo your plans and do what He wants? If you’re too busy to reach out to those who are hurting, you’re too busy! You say, ‘But I’m shy around people.’ Then start with the people you know in your local church. ‘Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith’ (Galatians 6:10 NKJV).

Today’s Prayer

Heavenly Father, Thank you for your Word today. Lord thank you that you teach me to look for other’s need before myself. Lord strengthen me to accept and forgive our enemies and do good for them so that they can see you unconditional love through us. Lord teaches me to always to good for others that they may see your glory and goodness so that all of my enemies will turn to you Jesus and follow you because they the true love from you. And I pray that those who turn to you will do good things to others and serve you in your Kingdom for your glory In Jesus’ Name. Amen!
